about

The music of this album was written for the opening of the exhibition of H.C. Ørsted in Odense, celebration his discovery of the electromagnetism 200 years ago.
It was later performed live for the Queen H.M. Margarethe of Denmark at Glyptoteket in Copenhagen.

Pelles illustrates the music as a message to Ørsted from the future. Showing him the impact his discovery has given both music and new instruments. Almost all electric instruments utilise electromagnetism, as well as speakers, tapemachines, microphones and amplifiers.

So much music has been created in 200 years, but being a jazz musician and live electronic artist, Pelle tries to give Ørsted a modern electronic picture of the jazz tradition.

Some trivia: The only instrument in Message to Ørsted without electromagnetism is the saxophone, but it’s played and looped in digital tapemachines.
